An article in The Guardian (15.02.17) on monitoring air quality features SWA's 2010 project for an budget but attractive cabin housing for King's College's air quality monitoring station in London's Marylebone Road. This is the premier research site in the UK which facilitates research into the links between traffic emissions, air pollution concentrations and health effects. Sarah Wigglesworth Architects has been shortlisted in the BD Architect of the Year awards 2017. There are 14 categories and SWA is one of eight practices shortlisted in the category of Education Architect of the Year for school buildings in the nursery to sixth form age range.
The RIBA Journal MacEwan longlist has been halved and the shortlist for the award produced. Mellor Primary School is on this shortlist of 12 projects of 'architecture for the Common Good'. This year the judges have chosen very diverse buildings making this an unusually strong shortlist. Mellor Primary School in Stockport has been longlisted for the RIBAJ MacEwan Award. This new award, established last year, sets out to recognise architecture for the common good and buildings and places which demonstrably give maximum benefit across society. Mellor Primary School was certainly designed to encourage a love for the environment. Further details under the 'Publicity' section of this website

Mellor Primary School in Stockport has won Highly Commended in the Education and Public Sector section of the Wood Awards 2016. These awards aim to recognise, encourage and promote outstanding design, craftsmanship and installation using wood. One of the judges commented that it was 'a lovely little project on a tight budget', sentiments which are echoed by MPS staff and the local community.
