Ray Park Visitor Centre

Situated along a tree-lined path on the former Ray House site, this centre provides an orientation point and rest stop for visitors at the gateway to the Roding Valley.

The dynamic roof structure follows the north-south orientation of the historic walled garden. This allows natural light from the north into open-plan spaces whilst harvesting solar energy from the south. An oversailing, translucent canopy shelters a gathering spot and outdoor exhibition area.

The building provides space for multiple user groups and includes a teaching space and offices, as well as recreation facilities. The café spills out onto a kitchen garden with fine views of the park.
